Are you interested in submitting your proposal to Lumicpress? We’re happy to hear that! At Lumicpress, we only publish children’s-young adult illustrated fiction and comics. We are looking to publish content intended for the age demographics of middle grade (8-13) or young adult (14-17) years of age, and would love to hear about any kind of story you may have. If you’re curious as to what kinds of stories we’re looking for: think stories inspired by Ghibli films, Osamu Tezuka, Digimon, Avatar the Last Airbender, Yu-Gi-Oh, Sailor Moon, Detective Conan, Sports Anime, Shonen, Shoujo, and everything in between! Although we’re a manga/anime inspired publisher, we are also committed to forging a fresh, new perspective on manga inspired content for kids.

Keep in mind that Lumicpress is a small press publisher, meaning we publish less than ten titles a year. We are also a very new publisher so our submission guidelines may be subject to change.

Author’s who are illustrators of their own stories are encouraged to submit. If you are an author and do not have an illustrator, feel free to also submit your proposal.

Submission Guidelines:

To submit a pitch, send your pitches via email at: submissions (at) lumicpress dot com. In your submission email, make sure your email subject looks like: [Your Name, Title of Work, Submission]

1. A logline, genre, intended age demographic, short summary, and list of characters with short description. Feel free to include pictures.
2. An synopsis of the book, or books if a part of a series, you have written or propose to write. Please keep your synopsis brief, and no longer than five pages.
3. A copy of your manuscript or sample text (enough to demonstrate the quality of your writing) or for comics, a few finished sample pages of your comic, along with any other scripts you may have.
4. A description of the intended audience (example: “for fans of…” “for readers who enjoy…”).
5. A brief description of yourself (including your qualifications for writing this book)

Please be aware that we can only respond to authors whose work we want to consider for publication. We do not accept fan work/fanfiction content, your work must be original to be considered. Also, be sure that the content you are submitting is appropriate for the intended age range you plan to reach. 

We’ll review your work as quickly as possible; however, it could take us 2-3 months to respond. Please understand that we aren’t in a position to give updates on your submissions. We apologize that we will not be able to respond to emails or calls. Please do email us if you have received an offer for your book and would like to rescind your submission.
