Last July, we shared our free social emotional learning (SEL) anime mood worksheets, and we’ve been amazed by how many teachers, librarians, homeschoolers, and educators have been using them!

These printable SEL activities are designed to be flexible, creative, and engaging. Students can use them for drawing, writing, or a combination of both. Since we love comics (obviously!) we formatted each worksheet like a comic page, which makes the activity much more fun and approachable as a result.

If you’re looking for SEL activities for elementary and middle school students, printable emotional regulation worksheets, or creative classroom resources, these are a great fit.

Big Feelings Comic (Emotional Awareness Activity)

This activity helps students identify, process, and understand “big feelings”, which are those intense or overwhelming emotions kids sometimes struggle to express or identify.

Students can:

  • Start at any point in the comic
  • Reflect on a real emotional moment
  • Work through their feelings step-by-step

We also included an alternative version using the prompt “How I Felt” instead of “My Big Feeling,” which, depending on the situation, may be easier to use instead.

Great for: emotional regulation, self-awareness, counseling sessions, and classroom SEL time.

Problem Solving Comic (SEL Decision-Making Activity)

Using the same comic-style format, this worksheet walks students through:

  • Identifying a problem
  • Understanding how it made them feel
  • Brainstorming possible solutions
  • Choosing the best outcome

This is a powerful way to build critical thinking and decision-making skills in a structured but creative format.

Great for: conflict resolution, behavior reflection, and guided SEL lessons.

My Empathy Comic (Building Social Awareness)

This simple 3-panel comic helps students explore empathy and social connection.

Students reflect on:

  • A time someone showed them empathy
  • A time they showed empathy to others
  • How they can show empathy in the future

We also include guided prompts to help students better understand empathy:

  • Kindness to others
  • Listening
  • Respect
  • Helping behaviors
  • Understanding how others feel

Great for: classroom discussions, group activities, and character education.

My Inner Superpowers (Self-Esteem & Strengths Activity)

In this activity, students identify their personal strengths and frame them as “superpowers.”

They’ll explore:

  • What their strengths are
  • When they use them
  • How they use them to help others

Framing skills as superpowers makes this activity fun, imaginative, and confidence-building, especially for younger students.

Great for: self-esteem, growth mindset, and positive identity development.
